With “Doorway” I reentered a doorway to the awe of recreating the beauty in and of the world through a photograph. It was the first time in many years I held my Hasselblad medium format camera and felt one with my tool. Everything around me fell away so that I was viscerally involved and intertwined with what I was viewing through my lens.

The Acoma photographs did more than bring me back to photography, they brought me fully into my color sensibility. I believe all my best photographs hold an element of the spiritual - whether that be my own experience of being struck by what is in front of me or the actual place and/or object(s) being photographed or a combination of the two.
